"A Toyota Supercar? Are you mad? You crazy mad fool you." That's what most people thought back in 1967. Now before I reveal the car (for suspense reasons of course), I shall babble on for a while. Most people will say the Lexus LFA is the 1st supercar from Japan. And most people say the Supra was the 1st and greatest sports car from Toyota. Then people will say the Supracelica (yes that was a real name) was the 1st sports car. But that's stupid because it wasn't really a car. More like a box with wheels, or a shopping cart. Well, let me take to 1967. The Toyota (wait for it)..........................................................................2000GT was the 1st, and best supercar from Japan ever. The reason why? Because it looked good doing nothing. It was powered by a straight 6 engine, mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. The car was unbelievably small, and had wood interior trim. Done by Yamaha. Ha! However it was not perfect. It was 3 times the price of a normal flagship Toyota, and only 250 of the cars were made. None were really sold, and 2 convertables were made for a role in a James Bond Movie made at the time. The car was killed in 1968.
