The 1973 Targa Florio was the final running of the historic race. It was ended because of the high attrition that year and a number of deaths. There were two deaths during the event, one involving a car crashing into a group of spectators. During practice that year, seven further spectators were killed. So many of the prototypes failed to finish in 73, that a Porsche 911 RSR won the race.

This video is wonderful because it shows some fantastic driving and gives idea why the event was so dangerous.
